HDTVs Televisions

Home entertainment starts with high definition (HD) televisions.  For the best quality picture, choose 1080 lines of vertical resolution, which is the HD standard.  Flat screens impress because they are thin and can be mounted on a wall.   High quality televisions have vibrant colors with deep black levels and produce a clear picture for an incredible viewing experience.  The newest TVs now come equipped with Ethernet ports for internet access.  You can stream digital HD movies directly to your living room via Amazon, Blockbuster, or Netflix.  Improve your home entertainment experience with a 50” inch+ wall mountable Plasma or LED / LCD high-definition television.  Our review team conducted comparisons of the top HDTVs and we have selected the best and listed them below.  Some items have reviews only and are not for sale, but we still list the cheapest / lowest price.  Consumerland is here for you, the consumer.  Buy from us, read our reviews, and visit our discussion forum on HDTVs.

Panasonic has brand new plasmas for 2009, the V series, which are top picks by our review team. These HDTVs have 120% digital cinema color saturation, which produces deep and rich colors that are enjoyable to watch. The V series also has BBE Viva HD3D sound for improved HD sound. Panasonic’s price point gives you the most bang for your buck. This is the best value flat screen on the market. The black level on plasmas is darker than LEDs or LCDs, resulting in a picture with more pop and realism in both bright and dark screens. This Plasma comes with many customizable settings, such as THX mode. It also has many features like Viera Cast that allows you to connect to the Internet and stream Amazon movies directly to your TV.

Samsung’s edge lit LED is the slimmest LCD flat screen available and is extremely impressive to view. This is a great all around HDTV. It has a 240HZ refresh rate for a clear picture that reduces blur during scenes with a lot of motion. The difference between this LED technology and others is that Samsung does not offer colored backlighting with a true dimming effect. Instead, Samsung uses a strip of white LED lights around the edges and behind the LCD panel. On one hand the black levels are not as deep as other LEDs, but on the other hand the difference is almost unnoticeable and you get the benefit of a super slim HDTV. Samsung has teamed with Blockbuster and will allow you to stream movies directly to your TV via the Ethernet port.
